DIY: Colts Letters

While I know that those “I Do” letters were all the rage a few years ago, I wasn’t a fan of the trend.  Instead, I bought some wooden letters to get the point across for our Groom’s Cake table. I bought a can of primer and a can of spray paint.  Denton sprayed the letters during commercials while watching some TV.

Traditionally, the Groom’s cake is supposed to be something all about the groom.  It isn’t supposed to match the look or feel of the wedding.  (Trust me, it did not!)
Buying and spray painting letters were the easiest DIY project we did.

Color Me Pretty

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color. For more than 40 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity.

Pantone has this amazing tool called myColor my Idea. It allows you to post your color schemes online as well as peruse ideas from others. They also have celebrities, like Patricia Field, design a color.

I love colors. In fact, picking my color scheme was quite an ordeal. My plan to do a monochromatic color scheme is not something you see that often. A great tool is myPANTONE! I was lucky enough to be able to use a specific Pantone color for my wedding invitations and ceremony programs. We used 7-o4-U, a deep scarlet color.

DIY: Cake Containers

Since we ordered enough cake for every person to have two slices, we knew that we would have leftovers.  Therefore, we ordered cake boxes.   We searched high and low for some Indianapolis Colts stickers but couldn’t find any.

Instead, Denton took the image from online and copied it into a template for a blank, round white sticker.  He printed them off on a color printer.  One night over Law & Order, we stuck the stickers onto the boxes.  It was a really easy project but the results came out great!

There was cake and favors for guests to pick up on the way out!

Tiny Details

Although I was able to avoid making “useless” wedding purchases, one thing that I had to have was a few copies of the Art of Kissing book.  Written in the 50’s, the book instructs on different types of kisses as well as talking about the passion of “latin lovers”.  It’s hilarious.

We had a book two of the tables during the cocktail hour.

One copy never made it home.  Hmm, I wonder who took it…

Wedding Myths

Myth #1:  Bridesmaid dresses can never be worn again.  They are awful.
Truth: Fabulous dresses like this Jenny Yoo dress can be worn again and again!  As I had mentioned a few months ago, I won a gift certificate to Jenny Yoo.  I ended up wearing this dress to a holiday party.  I received several compliments on it!

Myth #2:  No one is going to see your bridal shoes.  There is no reason to spend a lot.
Truth: Um hello, we are talking about shoes!   Of course you are going to see them. Photographers take loads of photos of bridal accessories.  I recommend getting a shoe in metallic color.  I chose to wear a deep champagne shoe that complimented my light champagne dress. My gorgeous de la Renta’s will be worn again next weekend!

Here are some examples of her recent work.

Bubbles Anyone?

As I mentioned last month, I added champagne at the last minute to our wedding. I always love a good glass of champagne. A few days before New Year’s Eve, InStyle posted a Hot Finds of Tasty Bubbly Under $50. These are my three top picks from their list.

Perrier-Jouet is delish. It has to be fabulous if Victoria Beckham enjoys it!

For the bride that adores crystals, serve this at your Head Table!

For the bride that is obsessed with pink!
