Happy 33rd Birthday!

It’s my birthday week!

Yup, I celebrate my birthday all week long. Last night, I went with my very good friend, Shena, to a movie premiere of Adam. It was tons of fun and I got to meet Hugh Dancy and Rose Bryne.

Today, my actual birthday, has started out perfectly. Starbucks decided to celebrate my birthday by offering a free pastry. Honey Bee Weddings has a new phone number courtesy of Google Voice. My Mother-in-law gave me a gift certificate to exhale spa. It’s been a perfect day so far. I’m looking forward to tonight at the Wit! Tomorrow, I will be getting a cupcake from Tipsy Cake when I head to the Left Bank’s blog launch. That is only after I stop by for events at the Dress Doctor‘s and Louis Vuitton with Dennis Lee. On Thursday, I am going to the Social Luxe Lounge for Chicago bloggers. My husband is taking me out to dinner on Friday at a surprise location. Saturday will be spent as a Lady that Lunches at Fred’s before heading home to Humboldt Park for an afternoon picnic. I’ve never been to Venetian Night but maybe I’ll consider it this year. The last day of my birthday will be spent at a kid friendly brunch at Birchwood Kitchen before heading to Wicker Park street fest.

I had a few readers find their dress here last year. For prices this low, it is worth a shot! Click here for tips and tricks. If you do end up finding your dress, please come back and post a comment. I want to find out who is successful!

Out of the Office…

My Mother had a stroke a few weeks ago. Between work and visiting her, I have had little time to blog. She is scheduled for open heart surgery this week. Once she has recovered, I plan to resume blogging.

Please be patient!
I must be on a paper kick this week.

I adore this invitation, Two Birds, in Charcoal. Wedding Paper Diva is offering 20% when you spend $99+ be entering the code SUITESALE. All the details are here.

Original Invitations, Part II

I have two brides that are planning some amazingly unique weddings. Don’t get me wrong; I adore every wedding. However, after seeing many many white weddings, it is nice when someone decides to buck tradition and go their own way.
Take Two…
Clare + Tom had planned on a destination wedding. After winning an amazing photography package, they moved their wedding back to their sweet home, Chicago. I have had many brides tell me that they were nontraditional. However, no one has walked the walked quite as much as Clare. When she said she was thinking robots for her invitations… well, I didn’t know what quite to say. Robots???

However, once she sent me the proofs, well, I thought it was perfect. The map is probably one of my favorite components of the invitation suite. The invitations are made by Eva Paul from Etsy, in case you are interested in some seeing some of her other work.

Take One…

Martha + Julio are getting married this August. Their invitations follow the golden rule that invitations are the first taste of a wedding. Using cardstock from Joann Fabrics and envelopes from M Staples and My Gatsby, the invitations were made by matting paper and a heat embossed stamp.

Skeletons? Absolutely! Their wedding is inspired by their mutual love of the Day of the Dead. As someone with a major inanthropology, I literally jumped up and down when they told me about their plans. If you have never heard of the holiday, click here for the 411.
