Perfect Hair

Finding the perfect hair style can be difficult for many brides. I’ve always wanted to wear my hair down, but I’ve never known what truly looks best for my face shape. Using these steps from visual makeover.com, you can measure your face, find out its shape and what hair style works best for that shape. After doing the measurements, I learned I have an oval shape because the length was one and half times the width. They suggest that people with oval faces look the best with their hair off the face…I may be changing the way I do my hair for my wedding. You should try it!

Also, In Style offers a tool where you can upload your picture and add celebrity hair style. I used a model they have set up with an oval face and found this great hair style which is still down but out of the face. I think it would be perfect for a wedding!

This is what the model looks like before choosing a hair style.

This is with the celebrity hair style.

What do you think? I think the tool is sort of fun!!

Anne Sportun Trunk Show

Not many designers can say they have their hands (or their work) on a postage stamp – but Toronto-based jewelry designer Anne Sportun can! This is the 2003 Canadian postage stamp that featured Anne with some of her pieces:

On the weekend of May 21-23, Chicago gets the chance to see Anne’s work in person at her exclusive Chicago trunk show at Virtu in Bucktown. She’ll be showcasing her bridal collection – beautiful, unique pieces made to inspire beauty in every day. Gorgeous!

Shoes, jewels, champagne, and chocolate…

if you were going to bribe someone to look at pretty shoes, jewelry and bridal accessories, chocolate truffles and champagne would be the way to go. The $25 coupon on purchases of $100 or more doesn’t hurt either…

Can you think of a good reason NOT to go to the James Ciccotti trunk show this weekend? Didn’t think so.

Save someone’s life… and free cookies

Berghoff is hosting a Bone Marrow Donor Drive today at the Berghoff Restaurant from 10:30am – 8:00pm. It takes 10 minutes and a simple cheek swab. They are trying to find a mtach for Dean, the engineer behind the 110-year-old engine, the Berghoff.

Complimentary cookies and root beer will be provided. There will also be a chance to enter a $5 raffle to win a bar party for 10 at the historic Berghoff Bar.

Oh, and if you are a big baby, no need to worry. Most donors don’t require surgery. Here is some information about the myths and facts of donating.

27 Throw Pillows

Sometimes you just have to admit that you will never wear that bridesmaid dress again – why not actually get more use out of it by turning it into a cute ruffled pillow? It’s quick, cheap, and easy thanks to these great instructions on Examiner.com.

I am always surprised at how expensive accent pillows are: this little round one at the end of the bed is $220 from Neiman Marcus. Perfect! Buy your bridesmaid dress, wear it cheerfully once, covert it into a pillow, and you’ll actually be MAKING money.

Not all accent pillows can say they were once worn out in public either. Take that, Neiman Marcus.

Stilettos are Fab but not for a 12 hour day.

I could do an entire week’s worth of posts on the dressing disasters I see among wedding guests.

#1 – Shoes

I can tell you that if there is a noon ceremony and the reception isn’t until 6PM, then your feet are going to be hurting before the cocktail hour ends. That is why I love these: fold-up ballet flats by Fit in the Clouds that can fit into your handbag. For only $22, I think they are a total bargain and much more chic than going barefoot.
