Paperless Post

I have never been a fan of Save The Dates.

I think they are cute and a great way to show off new engagement pictures but totally not necessary. My fiance and I immediately knew we weren’t going to be sending them and was happy to save the few hundred dollars. However, the majority of our guests are from out of town and I needed to inform them of our hotel accommodations.

Instead of doing a video announcement through email, which was our first idea, we decided to use Paperless Post. Paperless Post let us link to our website, with the click of a button.

We agreed on the design above. I love how it says “Mark Your Calendar” instead of Save The Date. We were able to completely customize the text and put the following information on the card.

Samantha M and Kyle R
are getting married

Friday, December 16th

in Chicago, IL
Formal Invitation to Follow

For accommodations and other information, please visit

Then, once your card has been sent, they have a delivery page that tracks all the cards. I can see who has opened it, what emails bounced, and who deleted the email. It also offers a spot for any comments which a lot of people have been making and we have thoroughly enjoyed reading them!

Irene + Joshua’s city chic reception

My last post focused on Irene and Joshua’s ceremony. Today’s post is all about their gorgeous reception.
All photos by Amanda Hein.

What an elegant shot of Irene’s fabulous shoe.

Irene made these fabulous escort cards herself!

The tall centerpieces were full and luscious.

The one of a kind cake was designed by the amazing bakery, Flour.

A close-up photo of the pink and purple color scheme.

The table lay-out at the James. I love bright colors against the chocolate brown.

Details on the gift table.

One of my favorite sweetheart tables of all time!

The James ballroom is perfect for the modern bride.

All catering is done by David Burke. It’s delicious!

Irene and Joshua agreed to keep the chalk drawing displayed for the reception.

Dancing the night away!

Did someone say dessert?

The couple had an extensive dessert table.

Since most guests were full after the cake, the couple had to go containers to take home some treats from the dessert table.

I had such a great time working with Irene and Joshua. I wish the both of you a lifetime of happiness!

Irene and Joshua are a really fun couple. They really planned the wedding together. Joshua made it to every meeting, which is quite impressive. I miss our meetings because I always loved checking out Irene’s latest handbag. The girl has quite the collection!

The day began (and ended) at the James Hotel.

Irene splurged on these lovelies.

A soft and gorgeous bouquet to compliment the dress!

Isn’t this gorgeous?

The bride pinned it on her bouquet.

Irene seriously contemplated if she should wear a birdcage veil. I am so glad that she did.

Those rosettes make my heart swoon.

Irene picked a stunning palette for her wedding day.

After a morning of getting ready, we headed to Old St. Pat’s.

The details in the church are amazing.

Irene made these marvelous programs herself!

The bride walking down the aisle…

I just love when a photographer catches the couple talking during the ceremony.

The ceremony

One of my favorite alter shots of all time!

After the ceremony, the bridal party went around the city to take photos.

Irene posed with her lovely ladies.

And this photo captures Irene and Joshua. Always smiling.

I will have the second post tomorrow!

Reception Flowers

I recently discovered how beautiful baby’s breath looks in bulk. It is simply perfect for my wedding. It gives a dreamy, romantic look and is exactly what I needed to make my reception look wintery. I am going to have 8 tall centerpieces like the picture below. I will also be using them to line my aisle during the ceremony!

I love the tight, bulb look it gives as well…simple, yet elegant.

Because I’m having 8 tall and 8 short centerpieces, I wanted to include a variety of flowers. I still want to keep baby’s breath in the short centerpiece. I love this picture with the hydrangeas, anemones and baby’s breath. I think it ties my colors, black and white, perfectly together!

The last item to find to bring in the silver component are vases. I’ve always loved solid color vases over clear ones filled with flowers, water, etc. These are on my wish list but are most likely over my budget…I am thinking about maybe this becoming my first DIY project.

Royal Inspiration

Since I am having a winter wedding, I want to wear a shawl or scarf during the photos that will be taken outside. I was set on a fur shawl like the one below I found on etsy. I imagined wearing this for only a couple hours, just to keep warm.

But after watching the royal wedding I fell in love with Kate’s jacket she wore with her second dress. I could do multiple blog posts on the royal wedding. I loved watching every second of it and yes I did get up at 4:30AM to see it live! Now I want to find a cute jacket like Kate wore…I am on the hunt!
