Jessica + J.T.: The Reception at Galleria Marchetti

Yesterday, I posted the first part of Jessica and J.T.’s wedding.  Today’s post is dedicated to their beautiful reception at Galleria Marchetti.

All photo by Redwall Photography.

Galleria Marchetti is a hidden gem in the city.

The room looked stunning with the dramatic centerpieces by Scarlet Petal.

The first centerpiece was a round and lush sphere of flowers that included hydrangea, roses, cushion poms, and hypericum berries held in a tall and slender hourglass vase with a few hanging crystals as accent.

The second centerpiece was a trio of mercury glass pedastals that displayed pillar candles encased in glass hurricanes.  Surrounding the trio of candles was three mint julep cups containing more green hydrangeas, roses, and tulips.

The escort card table was simply beautiful.  There was a series of five cylinder vessels in varying heights that displayed groupings of blush pink and celadon hydrangeas with the prettiest pink escort cards that I have ever see!

Can we take one more look at those escort cards?  I love the POP of pink!

One very delicious cake by Amy Beck that included devil’s food chocolate and vanilla cake on alternating layers.

Scarlet Petal accented the cake with fresh flowers.

The ladies put their bouquets in vases on the head table.

Both Jessica and J.T. loved the Devil’s Food cake!

As the evening continued, there were a few toasts.

And then the dancing began courtesy of Dan Hayes Orchestra!

Congratulations to a very fun couple!  I wish all of the best in your future together.

The Bridal Lounge at The James

I am so thrilled to finally share the photos from the bridal event at The James Hotel earlier this month! The night was filled with so many wonderful brides-to-be and amazing wedding experts. The atmosphere was stylish and fun, the perfect combination. Re-live the night with me, in the images below!

Florist: Larkspur
Hair & Makeup: Asha Salon
Cake: Flour
Photographer: Dennis Lee Photography

The James was the ideal location for this bridal event

Courtney Callahan showcased her beautiful wedding invitations.

Guests could not stop raving at the cake from Flour Bakery.  It was beyond delicious!

Cage & Aquarium could do no wrong! Kevin kept the party bumpin’ with a perfect playlist mash-up of decades and genres.

Honey Bee Wedding all smiles meeting so many fabulous Chicago brides

Dennis Lee Photography team captured all the images of the night while he met with the brides.

Some of our wonderful brides showing off their ring finger bling!

Larkspur Floral Designs created stunning arrangements for the event.

The Bridal Lounge was made possible by the James Hotel and their wonderful event space.  It was such a great night at such a fabulous venue.

Glazed & Infused brought their A-game with their personalized donuts.
Truth be told, it took so much self-control to have just one.

Asha Salon had plenty of advice to create your own perfect wedding day beauty look.

The James had such a comfortable feel, guests kicking back and enjoying each others company.

The James Lounge room was set as for the after party.  Guests could catch a movie, enjoy a glass of drink, or indulge in a late night snack that included truffled popcorn!

The goodie bags for every bride!

I am so excited to see The Birthday Partythe Harold Pinter play that just began it’s run at the Steppenwolf.  It’s been almost six months since I’ve seen anything!  I used to have a subscription to the Steppenwolf, which by the way, is an amazing gift for theatre lovers.
Since Japan is no longer an option, my husband and I have been searching for the perfect vacation spot for 2013.  This list by the New York Times is inspiring: 46 Places to go in 2013.
I am having a full blown love affair with linens as of late.  I took some quick shots to  show at some upcoming meetings.  The first linen SO amazing! It’s now the wallpaper on my phone.  (PS. Excuse the camera phone quality).

Do you like my musings?  Then please LIKE Honey Bee Weddings on Facebook.  I post other stuff on there as well.  And, I’m trying to get to 1,000 likes by Valentine’s Day.

As the Oscars are less a month away, I can’t keep myself from looking over the official Oscar app.  The app allows users to watch trailers, cast their vote, and look up the nominees.  It’s perfect for someone as obsessed with movies as much as me.

Four Looks of Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

One of my May brides really wants her bridesmaids to wear mismatched dresses.  I love this style and would encourage any bride to do it.  There’s just one small caveat:  it’s going to take more time and effort to create that perfectly mismatched look.  Here are four ways to wear mismatched dresses

Style #1: Fifty Shades

The first look in when all of the bridesmaids were a shade of grey.  Or pink.  Or navy.  I love this look although it needs to be very well thought out in terms of sheen and shade.  I’ve seen it look simply mismatched (but not in a good way).  It’s much better when the shades are cohesive.

Look #2: Same color but different style dresses

I once had a wedding where all of the bridesmaids wore their favorite black dress.  It was obvious how everyone was so happy and confident.  The benefit of this look is that the bride picks a color and then makers the girls find the perfect dress for them!

Look #3:  Same dress with different accessories

It’s still a fun form of mismatching although one can argue that it’s not mismatched because all of the girls are wearing the same dress.  This look sort of reminds me of the 80’s rainbow bridesmaids.  Does anyone remember that?!

Look #4:  Totally Mismatched

The sky’s the limit when it comes to this look.  The bride lets her bridesmaids wear whatever frock she prefers.  I’ll be honest: I have too much of a matchy personality to let this be my favorite look.  The third photo is closest to being my favorite although it drives me crazy that one of the bridesmaid is in a solid while the rest are in prints.

It’s Been Quite the Week

The Bridal Lounge at the James was a huge success!   The entire Honey Bee Weddings team, as well as all of our vendors, had a fantastic time.  There were a ton of surprises including hand massages, donuts, and an amazing giveaway for a night’s stay at the James.  I even was able to meet some of my fabulous readers, which is always fun bonus.  As the Bridal Lounge winded down, there was an official after party in the James Club where we had truffled popcorn, cheese sticks, and lots of champagne!  I cannot wait to share the professional photos.

Our table at the Bridal Lounge

On top of my event, there was an event conference in town.  I’ve been spending all week at McCormick Place, which exceeded my expectations.  The conference was similar to Pinterest; it like trying to take a drink from a fire hose!  I have a pile on my desk that is epic (well, for me.  I’m OCD neat and orderly).

My to do list

My weekend plans are to take off a well deserved day of rest tomorrow to spend time with my family from Texas.  The rest of the long weekend will be spent catching up on work, watching the Inauguration, and maybe a bit of shopping.

Have a great weekend!

Golden Globes Fashion

Congratulations to all of the winners!  But really, I want to talk about the fashion.

J’adore Jennifer Chastain but not in her Calvin Klein Collection gown.  I’m also not loving Anne Hathaway in Chanel.  The dress is wearing her, she is not wearing the dress.

I love red and both of these leading ladies looked marvelous: Claire Danes in Versace and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture.

You know that the stylist that put Halle Berry in this Versace gown was fired.  But I do appreciate that Tina Fey played it safe in L’Wren Scott.

Both of these ladies stole the show by looking absolutely marvelous: Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta and Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen.

Both Amy Adams in Marchesa  and Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad looked sweet.  But haven’t we seen Amy’s look before?  I don’t want to be negative and call it tired but I do this Jennifer’s dress was a bit more original.

I love the long sleeves!  Julianne Moore in Tom Ford was good but not nearly as amazing as Naomi Watts in Zac Posen.

Any other favorites?
