Honey Bridal Grand Opening

Honey Bee Weddings was delighted to attend the grand opening of Honey Bridal, the new sister store to Milk Handmade. The event showcased many of the beautiful dresses that were curated and selected by owners Dana Borden Karlov and Hallie Borden

The salon’s petite size means that each bride gets the store to herself when an appointment is made. Every dress in the salon was created by an independent designer! The designers include Tara LaTour, & FOR LOVE, and Tatyana Merenyuk

The talented bakers at Sugar Hills Bakery created a lavender-themed dessert bar that went perfectly with the cool color tones of the room.

Guests sampled cocktails and desserts while treating themselves to the braid and makeup bars located in the salon fitting rooms. Everyone commemorated the occasion with pictures from the open air photo booth provided by Fotio

This event was so much fun to attend. We wish this fun, new salon the best of luck!

BHLDN Launches Dreamy Fall 2015 Collection

BHLDN recently launched their 2014 Fall Collection.  I am really inspired by the gowns especially the various lengths.  In the past few years, more brides are selecting a gown that is other than floor length. I am especially fond of tea length like the Bianca; I think it looks positively dreamy!

While many brides are not comfortable with wearing a short frock, they are a great option for the dancing portion of the evening.  Mermaid gowns make a statement but it is hard to get down on the dance floor when you are so constricted. Short dresses are also fun for an after party!

Origami Perfection

This one shoulder silk dress by Carmen Marc is making me swoon.  I love the origami pleats on the bodice of the gown.  Although I tend to not like simple gowns (or flowers or anything, really!), I just love this dress.

Nordstrom has been doing an amazing job with The Wedding Suite.  I cannot wait to see what is being planned for 2013!

I love you Sarah Janks.

Sarah Janks has the most amazing collection of bridal gowns that I have seen in a very long time. I am swooning; these are simply gorgeous.  I have selected a few of my favorite gowns by this Sydney based designer.

Bow, lace, tulle equals fabulous.  I haven’t seen anything like this and am in total love.

Can this come in blush?  Because this could become my new go-to frock.
I am loving that high neckline.

My name is Misse Daniel and I am obsessed with bows.  But what I am obsessed with is the skirt.  It suggests a casual elegance that would work perfectly for a certain type of wedding.  I could plan a wedding just around this gown.  I am actually dreaming up the wedding (down to the escort cards) based on this gown.

Dressing my Bridesmaids

Choosing bridesmaids dresses was harder than what I thought. When I first engaged, I was confident that I give the my bridesmaids the liberty to choose their own dress has long as it was cocktail stlye and black. I liked the idea that they could get a dress they could wear again and it wasn’t so cookie-cutter. I am not a fan of bridesmaids dresses that look like they are straight out of a bridal magazine. However, being the planner I am, it made me anxious thinking about what my girls would choose since I have an array of personalities.

I moved on to plan B, which was picking out ones for them. I was set on the color black, but now couldn’t choose between long vs. short dresses. Being a December wedding, long dresses would be perfect for the weather, but on of my goals was to pick out a dress the girls could wear again. Here’s what I liked.

This dress is form Nordstrom, but unfortunately $198.00 and I felt that was too high for a few of my bridesmaids.

I love the length and the bow on this dress from Nordstrom, but I really wanted a dress that actually wasn’t strapless. However, the price was doable, only $138.00.

Finally, I found this one.

I love basically everything about it; the ruffle collar, the length, the ability to wear it again, and the price. So, I had a few of my girls try them on at Nordstrom and try them on. One of my bridesmaids, Lucy, texted me while she was in the dressing room saying, “I love it. I definitely think I could wear it again. Plus it just reminds me of you!’ That sealed the deal for me!

What to do with that old bridesmaid dress?

Dessy has been designing bridesmaid gowns for many years. I am in absolute love with this idea that launched recently. Called Newlymaid, the concept is pure (green) genius.

  1. Find an old bridesmaid dress
  2. Mail to Newlymaid.
  3. Get a code for discount shopping.
  4. Buy a new dress like the own pictured above!

Why would Newlymaid want your old gown? They either recycle the dress or they donate it to charity. Click here for the pretty amazing idea.
