Wedding Website

I have finally finished our wedding website, which felt great checking off my not-so-short to do list. For some reason, I put this off until the last possible minute. Instead of sending a traditional save the date, we decided to send an announcement through a website called Paperless Post. This was the motivation to finish the website.

There are an overwhelming number of options but we chose mywedding.com. For someone who is not computer savvy, it is easy to set up and update. The website gives a wide variety of page options but we chose the more simplistic route. We wanted the website to be used as a place for guests to get information on the wedding events and hotel accommodations. However, we did set up one page to show off our favorite engagement pictures!

Above is a snap shot of the cover. We chose a black and theme which is perfect for our wedding. That picture is also one of our engagement pictures. Again thanks to Steve Koo Photography!

Wedding Websites

Slate just wrote a snarky article on wedding websites. While they are easy to hate (baby pictures, over the top romance stories, pictures documenting the couple’s entire relationship), they are practical. If you have a wedding website, it is a great place to list all of those important details like the ceremony and reception location, start time, parking, and hotel blocks. I don’t know how many times I was asked the same question over and over again.

Do you think the cheese factor ruins the value of wedding websites?

That said, I don’t value Slate’s opinion on weddings too much. This is the same website that said it was ok to print registry information on the invitation.

Omni Bride

Omni Bride is a very cool new website. Besides being able to join their community using that allows you to link your Facebook profile, it is a super search engine that looks at tons of blogs to find the latest information.

I did a search on Scottish handfasting and my post was the first to come up! You can do searches on everything from “escort cards” to “candy buffet”. Try it out!

Wedding Website: I Do, Sugar

One of my new favorite websites it I Do Sugar. Created by the brains behind the other Sugar websites, it is a great website filled with surveys, giveaways, product reviews, and articles on the latest trends. They also have a message board that has a pretty cool feature allowing members to post albums, etc.
The website it a quick read- there are no long, informative articles here. For me, it is written like a fabulous blog with bite sized information. I recently read the review of Eco Chic Weddings, a book that I am in the midst of reviewing myself.
If you are looking for a great website in addition to the Tried & True (The Knot), I’d bookmark I Do Sugar!

Wedding Blog Addiction

My new favorite pasttime for endless web surfing is wedding websites. At first, I checked out Wedding Channel and The Knot. While I’m a die-hard knottie, there are a ton of other websites that help me feed my addiction. Here are my top picks:

  1. Faye & Greer
  2. Style Me Pretty
  3. Wedding Bee
  4. Martha Stewart
  5. Perfect Bound
  6. Magnificent Bliss
  7. InStyle Weddings
  8. Get Married
  9. Project Wedding
  10. I love weddings

I love looking at them for inspiration. Here are some recent pics that I absolutely love…
